Air conditioning does not get 'used up'. If it is low on refrigerant, it leaked out somewhere. Sam's Mobile Mechanic finds the leak, repairs it, then evacuates and recharges the system to the exact factory charge weight.
The cans of refrigerant with the gauge on top are a temporary patch at best. They put an unmeasured amount of refrigerant and sealant into a sealed system, and the sealant can clog the condenser, the expansion valve, or the shop equipment used to service it later. What was a fifty dollar hose becomes a compressor and condenser job.
We test static and operating pressures, use dye or electronic leak detection to find where it is escaping, and repair the actual failure, whether that is a hose, a seal, a condenser, a leaking service port, or a compressor. Then we pull a vacuum to boil out moisture and recharge by weight so the system cools the way it did new. We service both R-134a and R-1234yf systems.
